The original TrimUI Brick became a darling for its build quality and that excellent CrossMix OS setup. The Brick Pro adds dual analog sticks and more muscle, aiming squarely at the 3D library the base Brick couldn’t quite reach.
What’s new
Dual sticks are the headline, and they unlock the obvious: N64, PSP, and the lighter end of more demanding systems. Early hands-on suggests this is an Android device, which tracks with the ambition to push toward PS2-era titles.
Build
TrimUI’s reputation for premium feel carries over. The chassis is solid, the buttons are satisfying, and the CrossMix experience is one of the most newcomer-friendly Android setups around.
The catch
A few units need a little physical fettling — I’ve seen reports of a center button that needs the tiniest sanding to move freely. It’s a minor QC wrinkle, not a dealbreaker, but it’s the kind of thing you accept in this corner of the market.
Brick Pro vs R38S
They’re different animals. The R38S is Linux-simple and cheaper; the Brick Pro is Android-flexible and more capable in 3D. Choose based on whether you value simplicity or reach.
The Brick Pro is for people who loved the Brick but kept bumping into its ceiling.
Verdict
A confident step up that mostly delivers. If the base Brick’s lack of sticks frustrated you, the Pro is the fix you were waiting for — just budget a few minutes for setup and the occasional tweak.
